The Sonar is a tremolo/machine pulser that will work with higher-gain amps, which is always a challenge. The key to this type of device is achieving absolute dead silence during the “off” time, and Vex’s engineer Joel totally pulled that off. You can easily use the Sonar BEFORE a fuzz or heavy distortion, or a…

Razzle Dazzle is a more fanciful name for Dazzle camouflage developed and deployed by the UK and US military in World War I. In an effort to avoid being targeted for torpedo attacks by German U-boats (submarines) thousands of our ships were painted with a variety of wild stripes to confuse the enemy about identity,…

From ZVEX: In the ZVEX lab, we have modified the well-loved ZVEX Super Duper 2-in-1 pedal to mimic the legendary Sunn Concert Bass amplifier, a solid state monster with distinct distortion and low end popular with enthusiasts of downtuned, primal, and punishing guitarists and bassists. The input and output capacitors of the pedal have been…

Most vintage guitars suffer from steadily deteriorating magnets in their pickups, since permanent magnets aren’t really forever. The Super Hard-On’s input impedance is so high (>5 Meg) that it refuses any current flow from your pickup… maintaining the most magnetic field around each string, so you can hear exactly what your pickup sounded like the…

The Super-Duper 2-in-1 has two Super Hard-On pedals in one small box, with two switches and LED indicators. WHAT DOES THIS PEDAL SOUND LIKE? “You might wonder just how insane this pedal sounds when you crank up both channels and turn them both on. Well, I’ll tell you. I can’t get my Les Paul to…
The Tremolo Probe is a kind of cross between a theremin volume control and a Super Hard-On. There is a 3-5/8″ square copper plate mounted on a chunk of 3/8″ clear acrylic that passes over the top of the pedal housing, angles down to sharp turn, and goes back to the pedal. Under the whole…
From Zvex: This pedal was designed to emulate the sounds and textures of the Lo-Fi Loop Junky in real time, but it goes far beyond that. Click it on and mix your sparkly clear compressed signal with the smashed, lo-fidelity warbled signal and listen to it become a luscious emulsification that can be blended to…
From Zvex: ZVEX Effects proudly introduces the newest member to our line, the 59 Sound. Its based on the legendary 1959 Tweed Fender Bassman. The 59 Sound captures the essence of that magical amplifier. I’ve never really liked the sound of distorted Fender amps (this is Zack pontificating) except for my earliest amp, a blonde…

This ZVex Vertical Vexter Vibrophaseis in great shape and working condition
From ZVEX: A few years ago ZVEX Effects released the Candela Vibrophase, a candle-powered vibrato/phaser machined from solid brass and glass that used a mix of 1800s technology (a Sterling heat engine) and 60s/70s audio circuitry to create a lovely swirling effect. We received numerous requests to put that sound into a guitar pedal and…
